Growth is supposed to feel like expansion. And eventually it does. But the experience in the middle is often more like dislocation — you can't fit back into the old patterns and you're not yet comfortable in the new ones. You've outgrown the context you were in without yet arriving somewhere else.
Growth is hard to talk about because it sounds like self-congratulation. And the uncomfortable version — the loss, the friction, the not-yet-knowing — is harder to describe than the destination.
Anonymous thoughts about growth posted here are from the middle — where the old doesn't work and the new isn't settled yet. The honest account.
